Create templates

Follow these steps to create a WhatsApp template for WABA and submit it to Meta.

Before you start

  • Confirm you have access to the correct WhatsApp Business account in KWIC.

  • Prepare the message intent and category (Marketing, Utility, Authentication).

  • Collect final URLs and phone numbers for buttons.

Step 1: Log in

Log in to your KWIC account.

Step 2: Open Templates

Go to Templates.

Step 3: Create a new template

In the top-right corner, click Create Template.

Step 4: Enter a template name

Use lowercase letters, numbers, and underscores.

Avoid spaces and special characters.

Step 5: Choose a category

Pick the category that matches the message intent:

  • Marketing

  • Utility

  • Authentication

Step 6: Select a language

Choose the required language.

Step 7: Configure the header

Header types:

  • None

  • Text (5 to 60 characters)

  • Image (max 5 MB)

  • Video (max 16 MB)

  • Document (max 30 MB)

Step 8: Write the body

Add your message content.

Use variables for personalization.

Variable format: {{variable_name}}

Step 9: Add sample values

Add sample values for each variable.

Meta uses these values during review.

Add a short footer line.

Step 11: Add buttons (optional)

Buttons let users take action quickly.

Common button types:

  1. Quick reply (max 2)

  2. Call phone number

  3. Visit website (static or dynamic)

  4. Copy offer code

  5. Flow button (requires Flow ID)

  6. Order detail

Step 12: Submit for Meta approval

Click Submit for Approval.

Once approved, it will be available to use.
